What your MP claimed in expenses

RECEIPTS and invoices ran up by Tameside's three MPs between 2004 and 2008 are published on line today.

Allowances and expenses claimed by David Heyes, Andrew Gwynne and James Purnell are detailed on www.parliament.uk.

Millions of printed documents and receipts have had to be scanned electronically so the constituents of all 656 MPs can view the information. Some of the information has, however, been blacked out before going on the site.

Yet another good reason not to go and watch a third rate football team like Stalybridge. It would make me puke to know that R. Oldham was in the same stadium.

Tin Tin of course anyone having to live in 2 places should be able to claim help with rent/coucil tax bills/utility bills for their second home. The controversy is about the 'food' bills and the furniture bills etc etc

MPs do need financial assisstance to be in London but the system has been exploited. It is the blatant, smug playing the system we need to expose. By condeming all MPs your argument is lost.

It's ridiculous... do they not make enough money to be able to afford their own food and rent? We get paid a hell of a lot less than they do, and we pay taxes and we still get by... Is one house not good enough ? Get that bored of your home they need us to help buy them a second one and cleaners for it? They shouldn't need expenses in the first place.

James Purnell has been villified in readers letters for claiming £400 per month on food but he did not claim this every month. The bigger picture is: in 06/07 he claimed £2100 and £2595.60 in 07/08.

Total £4695.60 for 2 years

David Heyes claimed £991.75 in 06/07 and £1401.47 in 07/08

Total £2393.23 for 2 years

Andrew Gwynne claimed £4282 in 06/07 and £4800 in 07/08. £4800 is the maxinum allowed and he was in The Telegraph's list of the 32 MPs to have claimed the maximum.

Total £9082 for 2 years!!!

His claims appear to mto be quite modest on the whole.

However it is interesting that he donated so much to Stalybridge Celtic FC.

Readers may not be aware that President of the club is Roy Oldham Esq, Executive Leader Tameside Council and Patronof the club is .......Lord Pendry of Stalybridge, formerly known as Tom Pendry MP for Stalybridge and Mr Purnell's predecessor!

I'll leave it to others to draw any conclusions!

Having looked at this ...... I would like to see an unadulterated copy of James expences ...... YOU KNOW, THE ONE WITHOUT ALL THE BLOTTED OUT ENTRIES !!!!!!

COME ON .... WE THE PUBLIC DEMAND A FULL AND DETAILED ACCOUNT !!!!!!!, AFTER ALL, IT IS OUR MONEY THATS BEING SPENT !!!!!!! IF JAMES HAS NOTHING TO HIDE ......... HE WOULD MAKE THIS AVAILABLE !!!!!!! ........ JUST WHAT ARE YOU TRYING TO HIDE JAMES ??????????????

James Purnell's expenses are a total disgrace. Why should he claim up to £400.00 per month on food. No matter how many homes you have you don't double up on the meals. Joe public has to pay for his food from his wages he can't go to his employer and put an expenses claim in (and if he did, this would soon be picked up by H.M. Revenue & Customs). The worst of this is as Works & Pension Secretary he expected the old and infirm to live on less than £400.00 per month all in.
