A bit about... Ima Castro

Ima Castro, playing Kim in Miss Saigon, has been dubbed the "miracle from Manila" by the show's composer. She was a successful recording artist in The Philippines before being chosen to play the doomed lover of American GI Chris. She will be at Manchester's Palace Theatre from November 30 until January 7.
The first thing I do when I wake up is... When
I'm with my husband I kiss him good morning. When I'm on my own I
look at myself in the mirror.
Ideally I would spend every day... In the gym, or
playing badminton, and then working in the evening.
If money was no object I would... Tour the world -
but I get paid to do that as it is!
The greatest gift I have ever received was...
Either being offered this part, or my husband.
My one piece of advice would be... Live your life
to the full and be positive.
My first job was... As a recording artist in The
Philippines. I had two pop albums that were quite successful before
I got this part.
I'm scared of... Death in the family.
I'm excited by... Seeing my husband.
If I could go back in time and do one thing again it would
be... Do something about my bad relationships, but then I
only had one before my husband.
I love... My work. I like the fact I've been
chosen to play a 17-year-old girl.
I hate... Hypocrites, people who pretend to be
holy.
You have to read... Angels and Demons by Dan
Brown. It's a brilliant book and it'll be a better film than the Da
Vinci Code. I just heard from my mum that they've banned the Da
Vinci Code from bookshops in The Philippines, which I think is
ridiculous. People aren't stupid enough to be influenced just by
reading a book.
Everyone should listen to... Connor Reeves, who
released some brilliant albums in the 90s.
You must watch... Alias, Jennifer Garner's TV
series.
If I could be anyone else I would be... Princess
Diana, but obviously without the crash. She was so glamorous.
My ultimate ambition would be... To have kids and
still be able to work and perform on stage. I don't think it'd be
easy to balance being a parent with doing my job, but I'd love to
have children.
The first time I fell in love... Was three years
ago when I met my husband. He was my Chris in the show. He's called
David Shannon and he's now in Phantom of the Opera in Europe. It's
not too easy for us to see much of each other, but he surprised me
recently by flying over for our anniversary.
I think God is... Real.
I think the death penalty is... I'm in favour of
it. I think people who kill others or do bad things to them should
pay for what they've done. But it's important they don't do it to
innocent people.
My epitaph would be... "The best Kim in the world"
or maybe that sounds too big-headed. Perhaps "she lived life to the
full."
Fur or faux? I love animals, and I hate people
showing off wearing designer clothes, so I'll go for fake.
Mayonnaise or salad cream? Salad Cream.
Eastenders or Coronation Street? I don't watch
them regularly but I've seen parts of both. I like Eastenders, and
I really like Little Britain and The Office.
Harry or William? They're both good boys.
