Eve Dugdale

POLICE were called when residents barricaded a bin wagon in their street after refuse men refused to take their rubbish. People living on Longfield Close, Hyde blocked off one end of the street with bin bags full of rubbish — and one neighbour blocked the other end off with his car.

It sems to me that this episode of unrest in the collection of rubbish in Tameside is one of the few that has been published .....I refer mainly to the 2 weekly Black Bin collections that have been foisted upon certain areas with no prior consultation whatsoever !!! We are told to take rubbish to the Bayley Street site if the Bins are overflowing before the colection is due ........ BUT .... i HAVE AN EVEN BETTER IDEA THAN THIS ........ EXCESS RUBBISH SHOULD BE DUMPED OUTSIDE ROY OLDHAMS HOME ..........let him see the real result that his Councils policies are having on this Borough !!!!!. I would not mind betting that HIS bin is emptied every week !!!!!! Prove me wrong Roy and put yourself on the 2 weekly round and see how your locality likes this !!!!! One point on this matter is .....as the council is only providing a "half service" on the Black Bins .... should we not then be able to pay half the Council Tax ????????

Plese could the advertiser make note that not all residents that live on longfield close are behind the recent incident with the binmen. Most people feel they do a brilliant job and they should be supported not abused. If people were to ensure they recycled effectivley their BIN may not be overflowing.
