Having went to Tameside Hospital yesterday t visit Dermatology lab for treatment i was horrified at A) doctors attitude....B) the microsope was sent for !! The box was there but no microscope.....How is a dermotology dept supposed to run ..if no microscope and finally the Doctor did not wear a glove on one hand let alone two when he examined and took nail clippings...and then you wonder How ? such and such a thing happens ...well we know the How !..through sheer basic lack of health and safety issues..The question we should ask "Why would a trust employ a Doctor that is so ignorant with basic Health matters...maybe a serious review of the staff along with more patient centred practise would be better for the public Health Issues that are so wrong at the moment. I was visiting Dermatology it would help if that area of the blue suite looked less cluttered and more hygenic to be honest. I felt like i was bringing more samples out than i was taking in ....

Ms Green again the hospital policy is to basically say that nurses and staff need to paly thier part... Well considering MRSA was a problem in the 1990s and when patients were diagnosed MRSA they were treated but not the staff. Staff were told basically it was to expensive to treat the staff yet we all knew that MRSA colonised the nasal passages of nurses... MS green nurses at the time aksed for Bactroban and were refused. MS green MRSA is not only passed by hand contact it is also airborne. Ms Green the problem was never delt with at a time when it could have been much reduced. I remember patients being brought into tameside hospital from other hospital already colonised with MRSA, The hospital took the patients knowing this. Ms Green you are trying to shut the door know the horse has bolted. Stop blaming the nurses and other staff and effectively help them. Basically what you are saying is its not the administrations fault but the staff at ward level. Come on look at the staffing levels .... nurses for example cannot clean wards, then take care of patients. Infact two rns carring for 24 plus ( yes i have worked on wards when the day room was used for patients and two nurses cared for 30 patients. ) Yes we had care assistants but there are many many things CA's cant do. Ms Green look closely you moan that the hospital will lose money as patients go elsewhere, again balaming the hard working staff. Yes everyone as a role to play in the eradication of MRSA but the Administration as per usual spout off from thier offices... and do nothing else.. I have an Idea... Why dont the Managers, administrators spend one day a week helping to clean the wards.. disinfect the wards.. Then they would gain some respect from the staff. Also what a great PR exercise.. And then you could say see look what we are doing. I guess you cant to that incase your pen pushing hands get hurt. Its easy apportion blame to staff in the hospital. Its easy to say see have a new policy... you try working with the policies.. but you dont have to.... you have limited patient contact... if any.. Administration is so detacted from the real world of the hospital wards it isnt funny... Your comment of.. we will loose money if people go else where shows exactly what the hospital focus is.. and that is MONEY. Not the patient not the staff. What wrong ...no patients not admistration performance bonus???
