I am most pleased to see the efforts Tameside council are putting into encouraging re-cycling. With their yellow slap your hand stickers stuck firmly onto the top of anyone's bin who has not correctly seperated their plastic from their grass cuttings! But can anyone in the Ashton town hall please explain to me why they have to constantly have the air conditioning on because they can not turn off the heating system? If this is the case that the heating system is somehow faulty and can not be switched off then surely the most environmentally sensible solution would be to fix it and not run up huge bills using the aircon!

Why not employ people to operate a system which sorts out everybody's rubbish. That way we could all just have one bin, which is emptied weekly, recycling would be carried out continually and correctly and it would create more jobs for people. Personally we tend to take a lot of our rubbish to the tip in Stalybridge and, whenever I go, the guys who work there stand and watch everyone depositing their waste - never helping people. Also the recycling bins in the layby on Huddersfield Road in Mossley are always overflowing which puts me off going there! I'm sorry, what are we paying out Council Tax for again?
