Despicable
Eve Dugdale15/ 8/2007
HUNDREDS of memorial plaques have been stolen from Dukinfield Crematorium in a "despicable" theft.
Full story and video report here ...
I will be attending the court hearings if possible and I hope the person who did this gets a long prison sentance .
I will also be asking the police to investigate why the scrap dealers took them ,they knew they are not available unless stolen

Once again, the wishes of the vast majority, for a very harsh sentence to fit the horrendous crime, will be ignored by the minority do-gooders who run the system. He'll get a suspended sentence, told off, called names and then he'll be off to dream up some other low-life way of ripping off decent people.

" They are also discussing how to replace the plaques."
How about getting the low life that stole them replace them - both physically and monetary.

I suggest everyone affected turns up at court on the day he appears to make him see how many people he's upset.
Surely his name will be printed in the paper when he's charged? il make sure I look out for it.

My Grandfather as (had) a plaque at Duckinfield. I visited recently and left a teddy bear and card,it was so nice to be able to say hello to a very dear man,the thought that some low life greedy thief has done this fills me with rage and sadness, and I urge the criminal justice system to deal with this parasite with the contempt he deserves, sadly I fear he will simply get a slap wrist. I hope the paper follows this story to it's conclusion, and would love to see some local goodwill to assist relatives in resurecting the memorial plaques, which is part of our heritage.

My father's plaque is one of the the many that has been taken, and hasn't been recovered. I feel physically sick. The person, if you can call them a person, who has done this is lower than low and hasn't got any thoughts or feelings for relatives only for his own monetary gain. This is akin to grave robbing, shame on you!

This sickening theft beggars belief!! Is nothing sacred anymore, is there nothing left in this country that is untouchable? I only hope the utter scumbag that has been arrested receives the harshest sentence available. I also hope the scrap metal dealers that must have paid for these memorial plaques are dealt with accordingly and driven out of business. My gob is truly smacked at the lows criminals will sink to, to make, what 50quid...75quid? Disgusting..name and shame them Advertiser!!
