WHEN pupils at a primary school wrote to celebrities and sporting stars for a classroom project they never dreamt of getting such a knockout response.
For boxing star Amir Khan turned up to help pupils with a literacy project.
The 19-year-old Bolton-born Olympic silver medallist visited children at Chowbent Primary School on Laburnum Street, Atherton, Wigan, after 10-year-old Keith Collier wrote to him. Pupils have written to celebrities as part of a project on biographies.
Amir came to talk about his career with delighted pupils and also launched the school's campaign to mark Anti-Bullying Week.
