Denton’s finest entrepreneur?

Emilene Coventry

A SCHOOLBOY entrepreneur has started a magazine business that is already turning a four-figure profit.

Sixteen-year-old Cyrus Nayeri set up Denton’s Finest when he was just 15 as a way to earn a bit of cash.

What started as just a piece of folded A4 paper has now grown to a 16-page magazine distributed to 16,000 homes and businesses in and around Denton – and all while the Audenshaw Boy’s School pupil studies for his GCSEs.

"I was thinking at first that I wanted to set up my own newspaper," he said.

"But then I was thinking about how it would be funded and it came down to advertising and the idea changed from a newspaper to a business publication."

Donning his best suit, Cyrus – who says people often think he is in his 30s – drummed up support from local businesses and interviewed clients at his mum and dad’s house.

He said: "It’s a real, functioning business, the profit’s into four figures – but it’s not just about making money, I’ve made some great contacts in the community.

"When I set up the bank account the bank manager said I’m the youngest person ever to set up a business account.

"I’ve always been interested in the business side of things.

"I remember when I was six and I got my first computer, I printed off a load of business cards and went round cleaning cars – I even got repeat business!"

Cyrus, of Danebank Mews, Audenshaw said he wanted to act as a role model for other people his age and challenge the negative image sometimes portrayed of teenagers.

"It shows that anybody can do it. I have no advantage over anyone else," he said.
