Gable end collapsed in the night

Family escape house collapse

A FAMILY had to be rescued from their house after part of the building collapsed in the early hours.
A couple and their baby were rescued from the first floor bedroom of the house on John Street West in Ashton just after 5am.
Greater Manchester Fire Service said the gable end wall on the property had completely collapsed.
The property and surrounding area were cordoned off, and a building inspector and gas engineers were called.
An investigation into the cause of the collapse is ongoing.
