Sue Carr24/ 1/2008
TWO men were tied up and beaten with metal bars during a robbery in Ashton.
The victims were drinking at the Park Bridge Institute, on Dean Terrace, when they went to investigate a noise outside and came across the two robbers. They were hit with the bar, forced to the ground and repeatedly kicked and punched by the pair before being tied up and searched.
The men took cash, several personal items plus a safe from behind the bar then fled in the direction of Bardsley.
Police are appealing for information about the robbery which happened at around 2am on Wednesday, 23 January, and left both victims with head injuries.
The robbers were described as white, in their 20s and of slim build, wearing dark hooded tops and sportswear-type trousers.
Detective Constable Darren Byrne, of Ashton CID, said: “This was a very nasty robbery in which two innocent men were attacked with a weapon and then repeatedly punched and kicked while on the floor. They were then tied up and it was a frightening experience for both of them.
“I would appeal to anyone who has information about this incident to come forward so we can continue with our inquiries and catch those responsible.”
