Armed robbers threaten woman

A 43-YEAR-old woman has been threatened with a knife during a robbery at her home in Ashton-Under-Lyne.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident, which happened at about 6.55pm on Sunday 10 February 2008, at a house on Broadbent Avenue.

The woman answered a knock at her front door, leaving the door chain in place, but the offender pushed a knife through the gap and pushed the door causing the chain to break.

He pushed the woman to the ground and demanded cash.

He stole a small amount of cash from a table before holding the knife to the woman’s throat and taking her purse from her handbag.

The offender then ran out of the house.

The victim was not injured as a result of the incident but was left extremely shaken.

The offender is described as white, aged 20 to 25 years, 5ft 10in tall of medium build. He was clean shaven and wearing a blue hooded top with a Celtic pattern on it.
