Girl rescued from frozen lake

A GIRL of 16 was rescued by firefighters after becoming trapped on an island in the middle of a frozen lake.

Fire crews used inflatable paths to cross the ice at Chadwick Dam, Mellor Road.

Engines from Stalybridge and Hyde responded to the call just before 4pm yesterday (Wednesday).

The teenager was taken to hospital where she is now being treated for hypothermia.

   the girl who fell in the lake is my friend toni. She fell into "chaddy dam" with my mate scott but he did a runner from the paramedics so i think he should be included in this report, since toni clearly did not need any help getting out and went home from hospital within the hour. i am happy to say she is feeling well, but has been grounded by her mum forever, despite being 17.
