Andy's weight loss diary

7/ 4/2008

26-STONE Andy Goode is keeping an online diary of his efforts to lose six stones in six months.

He's keeping us updated his progress below, with pictures added to the gallery each week (click 'View gallery', and you can also see his diary in more detail at his website - www.igoode.co.uk.

Week beginning 3 March:

Stats for this week are as follows:-

Weight: 25'6 - Loss: 11lb

Weekly Summary

Well my first week went beyond all expectations with an 11lb loss but I know its going to get harder as the weeks go by. After Eve from the Tameside Advertiser wrote the article on me, I have had the BBC and Channel M on the phone to me arranging dates for a radio session and a TV show. For something that was created just for family and friends, its gone a lot bigger!  I'm looking forward to the week ahead, I plan on doubling my water intake this week and plan to do more walking (my poor dog!).

Week beginning 10 March:

Stats for this week are as follows:-

Weight: 25'3 - Loss: 3lb

Weekly Summary

Not a big loss compared to the previous week but 3lb is still one and a half bags of sugar. I upped my walking last weekend so I was pretty disappointed at the weigh-in but I'm not down-hearted as its still a loss. I've also looked the the first photo I did on week 1 and compared it to this week's and I can definitely see a difference. I still need to do more exercise this week and drink more water so my plan is to start doing some upper body exercises rather than just walking. It's Easter week but no Easter chocolate for me, I'll leave them to you guys - I'll have to make do with a cup!

Week beginning 17 March:

Weight: 24'12 - Loss: 5lb

Back to work tomorrow already, why does it go so quick? Well Allison took me out to Gala Bingo in Ashton this evening and it was a good laugh but the best bit was... wait for it.... I could sit at a table without feeling like a sardine squashed between a table and a chair. Last time I went to Gala I had to get up in the intervals and walk round because I was literally squashed in but not this time! I was really chuffed and I'm looking forward to tomorrow's weigh in. I'm thinking about going a gym around the 2nd week in April and I'm quite scared of the thought. It's not the gym that scares me, its what people will think when they see someone my size there. I've mentioned this to a few people and they said they will be happy to see someone of your size trying to do something about it which I can see, I'm still a little wary so if anyone needs a gym partner - please let me know hehe.

I'm happy with the 5lb loss this week and beating the temptation at the weekend to go back to my old ways was hard but I did it. I guess having a lot of spare time all of a sudden hit me harder than I thought it would. I tried to keep myself busy for most of it which I think is how I managed it.

Week beginning 24 March:

Weight: 24st 8lb - Loss: 4lb - Total loss for month one: 1st 9lb

Well its pretty much the end of month one and its going well. It's not been an easy ride and there was a time I found myself over the easter weekend staring at a lonesome cadbury's mini egg that was sat on our coffee table. It was a stareout competition between me and the egg. Everytime I thought "it won't hurt" I also thought about all the support I have. That was the closest I came for a "nibble" but I won!. I am feeling the benefits and it looks like I've lost the weight from my neck and man boobs (as people keep telling me). I'm confident of a good second month as I'm already down to a weight I've not seen for 13 years. To complete my challenge I have to be under 20 stone by the 1st September and I'm 9lb in front based on a stone a month. I know its going to get harder but the more I lose - the more I can do. I want to take this chance to thank everyone of you who has visited the site, given me a pat on the back in passing - It means a lot.

Week beginning 31 March:

Its been a slow week as I haven't managed to do as much walking as I normally do but I still managed to lose 3lb. I'm getting to s stage where I'm becoming scared of trying some new foods as I just now sure if there good for me. I have my next hospital appointment on the 14th April so I'm going to ask them to refer me to a dietician. I can't wait for that appointment as my doctor will see a big difference in me.

I had the chicken layered salad from Asda all last week for my dinner, it was quite exceptional and on special offer (bonus!). I also bought a Dyna Band this weekend to start working my upper body so I will post my routine and pictures on the site this week. My target for next week is to get under 24 stone so that means a 6lb loss which is alot but I'm going to work so hard this week.
