Gordon, don’t say the F word!

TWO famous faces dropped in at a Tameside sandwich shop for a bite to eat this week.

Gordon Ramsay called in at the Butty Box on Mottram Road, Hyde to have a chat with Ricky Hatton about his eating habits.

Susie Phythian, who has only owned the cafe since October, regularly serves The Hitman his full English breakfast, but celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay was a surprise guest.

"I only got the call the Thursday before he came up on the Tuesday!" said Susie.

"He was talking to Ricky about what he eats when he’s out of training.I was nervous. They did comment that I was shaking on the camera, but Gordon was so nice, he even had a drink out of a chipped cup!  When he came in I said ‘don’t start slagging my cafe off Gordon’ and I asked him if he wanted a drink. He said he wanted a cup of tea and I was halfway to his table when I realised the cup had a chip in it. He must have overheard me and he said ‘I’ll have the tea, chips and all, I’m not bothered what it’s in."

Channel 4 approached mum-of-three Susie after Ricky was filmed in her cafe before his last fight with Floyd Mayweather. The cafe will feature in the foul-mouthed chef’s ‘F Word’ programme next month.

Susie’s dad, Dukinfield Councillor Brian Wild and fellow Councillor John Taylor starred as extras in the scene.

Councillor Wild said: "He was a really nice guy. There was a crowd outside the door and he just invited them all in and was having his picture taken and signing autographs."

Susie added: "He said my cafe was the nicest cafe he’s been in and that he’d come back when he’s next in the area. I’ve got his PA’s number and I’m going to go to his restaurant in London!"
