Brutal attack on couple

A COUPLE were attacked with a machete and baseball bat after men burst into their home demanding cash and jewellery.
Three armed raiders forced their way into the house in Quebec Street, Denton on Sunday at 9.20pm, attacking the 42-year-old victim as he confronted them.
They used the weapons to knock him down before brutally kicking him as he lay on the floor.
The gang then tore into the front room and hit a 42-year-old woman in the face with the machete as she tried to defend herself. After stealing the injured man’s wallet they fled.
He was left with injuries to the back of his head, two fractured cheekbones and cut on his arms. The woman was left with cuts to her arm, in between her fingers and to her face, narrowly missing her eye.
The offenders were white and of medium build. They wore dark clothing, except for one offender who wore a beige jacket.
Detective constable Mike Robinson of Tameside police said: “This is a horrific attack, which has left a family in shock.
“If anyone was in the area at the time of the offence and saw anything that may assist our inquiries please get in touch.”
