Police warning after burglaries
Adam Derbyshire14/ 4/2008
POLICE are warning residents to secure their properties following a spate of burglaries in Dukinfield and Mossley.
Sneak thieves have taken advantage of unlocked doors and windows to enter homes and steal property — sometimes during the day while householders have been in.
PC John-Paul Ruffle, community beat manager for the area said: “Burglary is a horrible crime that not only deprives people of their property but can leave them feeling violated and insecure in their own homes.
“We are committed to driving it down and bringing burglars to justice. Local people can help by following a few simple rules that will dramatically decrease their chances of becoming victim to this distressing crime.
“Keeping your home secure by shutting and locking all doors and windows, even when you are in, is the most effective precaution. Fitting and using good quality locks and an intruder alarm will also help you to avoid becoming a victim.
“Residents can also help by keeping a watchful eye on their own and their neighbours’ property and reporting anything suspicious to us on 0161 856 9990 or 07766 994 992.”
