Purdy’s feline fine after garage drama

A CAT found herself in a tight spot after rejecting the advances of a neighbour’s pet.

So tight in fact that it took a team of firefighters to move her!

Nine-year-old Purdy was out for her morning stroll when she escaped the over-friendly feline through a gap between two garages. But disaster struck when the puss found herself stuck between the garage walls.

Owner Andrea Hill discovered the ‘cat-astrophe’ on Tuesday when she went to call Purdy for breakfast, and telephoned the RSPCA for help.

Andrea, of Staley Hall Road, Stalybridge, said: "An inspector came and he managed to get a hook around her collar, but he couldn’t quite reach her so all he ended up doing was turning her upside down.

"He called the fire service but they couldn’t reach her with any equipment they had, so they decided the only way was to go through next door’s garage."

Firefighters ended up drilling a hole in the wall so they could pull Purdy out, dusty but unscathed.

"She was covered in rubble with her claws cut to shreds," Andrea added."She was really stiff, a bit bruised and she stayed on the patio for a few days afterwards but her confidence is coming back now."

The young mum also thanked next-door neighbour Harold Kershaw, who not only encouraged firefighters to knock through the wall but even lent them his drill!

"There was only one way she was coming out," he said. "It’s just bricks at the end of the day and I couldn’t see an animal in distress."

What is it with the Advertiser and these pet stories over animals getting frisky?

It is getting a bit too much now considering we have "Pet Idol".

Just who likes this stuff other than the people of Mossley?
