Search is on for Chef of the Year

1/ 5/2008

HAVE you got what it takes to be Tameside’s answer to Gordon Ramsay? Do you regularly create mouthwatering dishes for family and friends?

The Advertiser has teamed up with with the catering department at Tameside College to find the borough’s greatest cook with our first ever Chef of the Year competition.

Is your hot-pot the best? Could your pasta beat the Italians at their own game?

Send us your hottest menu and you could be in with the chance to reach the final cook-off and win some fantastic prizes!

Anyone over the age of 18 can enter and the budget is limited to £5.50 per portion. We’re asking you to come up with your favourite main meal and tell us why you think it’s a masterpiece.

We’ll pick a shortlist of six finalists who will be invited to Tameside College for the cook-off, where they will have one hour and 40 minutes to come up with a delicious meal.

You will have full use of a professional kitchen and the Advertiser will reimburse finalists for the cost of their menu.

Not only will the winner receive a cash prize and the accolade of being the greatest chef in Tameside, they will also receive a winner’s chef apron and the chance to spend half-a-day in the kitchen at the prestigious Clough Manor hotel in Denshaw.

The winner will join the hotel’s professional cooking team in their Rosette Standard Restaurant.

The Advertiser and Tameside College believe that some of the best cooking in this area takes place in the home and this is a chance for any amateur chef to showcase their talent.

To enter, send your menu along with a 250-word profile on yourself and why you like cooking, together with your name, age and address. Send entries to Tameside Advertiser, 35-37 Booth Street, Ashton, OL6 7LB or enter by e-mailing tamesideadvertiser@menwn.co.uk .

Closing date for entries is Monday 26 May.
