Man charged with manslaughter

A MAN has been charged in connection with the death of a 32-year-old in Stalybridge.
Geoffrey Presley Humphreys, 37, of Tudor Avenue, Stalybridge was charged today (Tuesday 3 June) with the manslaughter of David Grainger and a further assault charge. He is due to appear before Tameside Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 17 June.
Mr Grainger, of Princess Street, Ashton, died from serious head injuries on 26 January.
Police were called to Grosvenor Street at 10.45pm following reports of a fracas outside the Grosvenor pub.
When officers arrived, David was found on the floor with head injuries. He was taken to Tameside General Hospital, where he later died.
