23/ 6/2008

A 15-YEAR-OLD girl had to have both her legs amputated after she was crushed by a canal bridge.

The teenager, from Abbey Hey, is thought to have been playing with friends on the swing bridge, on Buxton Lane, Droylsden, when the accident took place at around 8.20pm on Friday.

She was freed by firefighters and taken to hospital but doctors were unable to save her legs.

This tragic accident is horrific and I know the fire fighters and police involved did a stirling job but why is there no mention yet again of the paramedics that dealt with the situation? Surely your reporter can't believe the fire service and police were alone?
