Spillage closes Snake Pass

SPILT milk lead to the closure of a section of the Snake Pass for around seven hours.
A milk float left the A57 near Hagg Farm and went over a verge, ending up on its side. As a result a large quantity of milk and cartons ended up on the carriageway, some 1.5 miles past the Snake Pass Inn.
The milkman was not injured in the incident, which occurred around 6.15am on Thursday. But a section of the road was closed until 1pm while highways authority personnel working with police cleared away cartons and made the road surface safe.
