Man seriously hurt after collision

A MAN is fighting for his life in hospital after colliding with a car in Ashton.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident, which happened on Cavendish Street near to its junction with Hill Street at about 10.05pm last night (Tuesday).

A 19-year-old man was driving a Ford Fiesta along the carriageway when he was in collision with a pedestrian.

The 29-year-old pedestrian suffered a head injury and was taken to Tameside Hospital but later transferred to Hope Hospital. His condition is described as serious.
