One week to go til In Bloom judging

IT'S crunch time for Tameside as the final stage of the judging for the Britain in Bloom contest takes place next Thursday.
From 9am they will scour the borough, travelling around in the Tameside in Bloom bus.
Councillor Dave Sweeton, head of the In Bloom bid, said: "If you see the bus, make sure you honk to show the judges your support.
"A huge amount of effort is made to condense all the work done throughout the borough during the year into the four hours allotted to the judges.
"However, if the judges see any items such as graffiti or litter on their way to and from the start of the judging tour they will also take points away from our score so we’re asking everyone to help keep the borough immaculate."
Tameside has some stiff competition in the form of posh Kensington and Chelsea, as well as Aberdeen and Solihull, for the top gong in the city category.
Last year the borough scooped the top prize in the North West In Bloom competition, as well as the Cleansweep award and a special commendation for Stamford Park, with judges praising "magnificent bedding under difficult conditions."
