Man injured following accident

A 25-year-old man is fighting for his life after the car he was a passenger in collided with a tree in Hyde.

Traffic police are now appealing for witnesses to the collision.

At 11.30pm on Tuesday 19 August 2008, police were called to Dukinfield Road, Hyde, around 50 metres from the junction with Edward Street, following reports a car had collided with a tree after mounting the kerb.

The front seat passenger, a 25-year-old man, has suffered serious head injuries, which are described as being life threatening and is currently in a critical condition at Hope Hospital.

The 29-year-old woman driver suffered a broken ankle.

A man, who was in the back seat, suffered a broken wrist and has lost teeth.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision and anyone with information should call the Road Policing Unit on 0161 856 8473.
