Estate agent goes into liquidation

A YOUNG family faces an agonising wait after the estate agent they paid £350 to went into liquidation.

Lisa Nazir, of Ashton, says she paid the money to APS for trying to sell her house.

It was confirmed this week that there had been a creditors’ meeting had been held on 21 August and that the business, on Stamford Street, Ashton, has gone into liquidation.

All creditors and customers have been notified.

Lisa, 28, who has a one-year-old son, says the for sale sign outside her home came down without her knowing and is doubtful she will see her money again.

"We paid upfront because they were offering a slight discount if you paid upfront. We were selling two houses at the time, so we thought it was a good idea," she said. I don’t know how much money I will get back, if any, and there are loads of us in the same position."

A forum on website www.moneysavingexpert.com  includes posts from other vendors claiming to have paid upfront.

Another post states that for sale boards had been taken down without the vendor’s knowldge.

The Advertiser tried witout success to contact APS before going to press. A notice on the front door of the building said ‘Sorry closed for business’ and advised that correspondence would be collected regularly.

The notice also states that anybody with queries should email aps_ashton@yahoo.co.uk  or write to the Stamford Street address.

The firm dealing with the liquidation is Credit Fix Ltd in Bradford.
