MP James Purnell will be hosting a benefit entitlement day this week to make sure residents in the area are claiming the benefits they’re entitled to.

Joining forces with eaga, the country’s leading green support services company and provider of the Government’s Warm Front Scheme designed to tackle fuel poverty, the Work and Pensions Secretary will be hosting the benefit entitlement event to make sure residents are not missing out on important money.

Speaking about the event to be held at Hyde Town Hall on Friday he said: "This is an opportunity for people living in Hyde to find out confidentially if they’re claiming all the benefits they’re entitled to."

As part of the event which will run from 11am to 1pm, visitors can find out whether they are eligible for entitlements including; Family Tax Credits, Pension Credit, Council Tax Relief, Disability Living Allowance and the Warm Front Scheme, which helps cover the cost of insulating homes.

The event will also provide opportunity for local residents to confidentially speak to fully trained benefit entitlement advisors.

The benefit entitlement team has been working to maximise people’s benefit for a number of years and is finding that, on average, people are often entitled to at least one extra benefit boosting their weekly incomes by up to £28 a week and almost £1500 a year.

Residents wanting to attend the event, and already in receipt of benefits, are asked to bring with them all their documentation so they can be advised appropriately.

Mr Purnell added: "Anyone who thinks they’re entitled to benefits they’re not claiming or who simply want to double check their current claims are right should come along. This is an opportunity to get professional, first hand advice from qualified advisors who can make sure residents benefit from important money."
