NOT many people say no to music mogul Simon Cowell.
But when two pals were told they’d sound better singing separately, they chose friendship over fame and turned him down.
The two 17 year-olds from Ashton appeared as Two Tone on ITV2’s The Xtra Factor on Saturday.
After performing Me and My Shadow together, one pal sang Frank Sinatra classic That’s Life, but refused the judge’s invitation to come back and audition alone.
The duo were eventually voted off with just one vote from Cowell, usually the most difficult to please. Fellow judges Louis Walsh, Danni Minogue and Cheryl Cole all refused to put the pair through to the next round.
Cowell said: "I think you’ve got a very, very good voice in that Frank Sinatra way. I’m disappointed, I thought there was something there."
