Four arrested after teenager stabbed

FOUR people have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a teenager was stabbed in Mossley on Saturday night.

Police were called to Manchester Road in Mossley at 11pm following reports of a fight.

Officers arrived and found a 17-year-old boy with stab wounds to his chest and arm.

The boy was taken to hospital for treatment. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

A 19-year-old man later contacted the police having suffered facial injuries. A 21-year-old man also needed treatment for a broken jaw.

Four local men, two aged 21, a 19-year-old and a 20-year-old have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. They remain in police custody for questioning.

Detective Inspector Andy Aston from Tameside CID said: "This incident happened quite close to the Commercial pub in Mossley and it is possible that some of the people who had been drinking in that pub last night will have seen something.

"Incidents of this nature are quite rare in this area and we are keen to trace all of the people responsible.

"If anyone does remember seeing anything that could help us with our inquiry, I would ask them to get in touch."
