Blooming success for borough

TAMESIDE‘S flower power has scooped the ‘North West in Bloom’ title for the fourth year running.
The borough won first place in the ‘large city/metropolitan borough’ category as well as another bunch of awards - the local authority environmental award, Community Housing Award for Central Estate in Dukinfield and the Hospital Grounds Award for Willow Wood Hospice.
The regional victory means Tameside now qualifies for next year‘s national Britain in Bloom competition.
Borough bosses picked up the prizes at special ceremony in Liverpool.
Project head Councillor Dave Sweeton said: “We are delighted that Tameside has scooped the North West Britain in Bloom award for the fourth year running.
“We were battling against the elements this year and I’d like to thank everyone involved with Tameside in Bloom for playing their part in making the borough an attractive place to live and work.”
