A WOMAN was seriously injured after a car mounted the pavement and ploughed into her.
The 21-year-old suffered a fractured skull in the collision in Stalybridge yesterday afternoon (Sunday).
She had been walking along Stamford Street with her friend at about 4.20pm.
It is thought that the Clio, driven by an 18-year-old man, had mounted the kerb after swerving to avoid traffic, but police are appealing for further witnesses to the incident to come forward.
The victim is currently being treated in hospital for a fractured skull.
Her friend’s foot was hurt in the collision, but not seriously.
Anyone with any information about the incident is asked to contact traffic police on 0161 856 8473.
