A MAN with a ‘distinctive tattoo’ is wanted in connection with a robbery in Ashton.

The two victims were walking through Camp Street car park, next to the railway station, when they were approached by the attackers.

They were then taken to a secluded area, threatened with violence and forced to hand over cash, an mp3 player and a mobile phone.

The attack was carried out by a male, aged 18-20, 5‘ 11" tall and of medium build, wearing a Nike tracksuit. He had a bald head, spoke with a local accent and had a distinctive tattoo of the sun with flames on his left hand.

He was accompanied by a female, 16-20 years old, 5‘ 6" tall and of medium build. She had dark hair in a ponytail and was wearing a white striped hooded top.

Detective Constable Mark Whittaker said: "The victims have been left badly shaken and need to be reassured they can walk the streets without being attacked like this. The only way we can do that is to track those responsible down.

"We are appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time, or who may have seen someone with this distinctive tattoo on his hand, to get in touch."

The attack took place at around 5pm on Friday, 5 December.
