MP meets with hospital chiefs

1/11/2006

ASHTON MP David Heyes has met with hospital chiefs to discuss his concerns following more than 80 allegations of patient neglect.

Tameside Hospital was recently slammed by coroner John Pollard for its treatment of elderly patients.

Led by Mr Heyes, more than 80 families with concerns over care have now set up Tameside Hospital Action Group.

Speaking about the meeting, Mr Heyes said: "Once again I emphasised my belief that the hospital's proposed internal inquiry into the four cases referred to by Mr Pollard was not an adequate response.

"I was pleased there was recognition that the individuals and their families who have come forward deserve to be acknowledged and, at the very least, be given an opportunity to be heard.

"The hospital management are intending to put forward proposals designed to meet this aim by setting up a special procedure and I look forward to hearing more details."

Tameside Hospital confirmed it had attended the 'helpful and constructive' meeting.

THAG are due to meet next Friday, 10 November. Anyone interested in attending should email tamesidehospitalactiongroup@yahoo.co.uk or write to THAG, c/o Suite 4, St Michael's Court, St Michael's Square, Ashton, OL6 6XN.

My Uncle was in tameside hospital for the last 4 weeks of his like, he was always a proud man'who thanks to the neglect of the hospital staff died with less dignity than a just run over dog, he was left in his own mess, and when he managed to go to the toilet unaded ,he fell and hd a huge bump on his head, none of this was recorded in his notes, not a nice was to spend your last days of an 84 years of life. now instead of accepting their faults with out honor .they attack Mr Pollard(coroner) for pubishing their sins, It is not long ago they warned a doctor for whistle blowing nothing would suprise me in the attempt to cover up.
