Pensioner dies in Christmas road tragedy

A WOMAN, 81, has died in a traffic accident.

Ellen Yates of Lodge Close, Dukinfield, died on Christmas Eve after she was in collision with a car.

The accident occurred as the woman crossed Birch Lane in Dukinfield at 8.10pm. She died shortly after the accident, despite first aid administered at the scene.

Police report the vehicle involved in the accident was a Mercedes C180 Elegance, driven by a 31-year-old man from Dukinfield.
