Police turn to clubbers after man's death

POLICE have appealed for help from clubbers as they investigate the death of a man, 42, who died during the early hours of Saturday morning.

Father-of-one Paul Duckworth was found collapsed in Stamford Street, Ashton shortly after 2.30am on Saturday morning.

Mr Duckworth of Chester Street, Denton was taken to Tameside Hospital, where he later died.

"At the time of the incident, a large number of people are believed to have been in the street having visited one of the two nightclubs, Universal or Blues, and we believe they may have witnessed the incident," a police spokesman said.

"We would like to appeal to anyone who was on Stamford Street to contact the incident room and let us know what they saw."

A man, 26, has been charged with violent disorder and manslaughter in connection with this incident.
