Making the right connexions

TAMESIDE youngsters are certainly well connected.
Former HearSay band member Suzanne Shaw and two Coronation Street actors popped into Ashton to launch a free internet-based youth advice service at Tameside Connexions.
The newly launched support and advice shop for youngsters hosted the event at its Clarence Arcade base just a month after officially opening.
The stars, including Dean Ashton, who plays Ade Critchley and Jack Shepherd, who plays David Platt, gave their backing to EPal, which offers youth-related news, job advice and vacancies as well as training opportunities.
Connexions spokesman Mark Rossiter said all three have agreed to be patrons of Greater Manchester Connexions because each has something very individual to offer.
"Dean plays a character who gets into trouble and has a violent father, Jack had troubles of his own at school, until someone diverted him into drama and Suzanne has had to make some tough decisions in her own career.
"Connexions is about supporting 13-19 year olds and urging them not to give up on their dreams."
