Police seek van driver after road accident

POLICE are seeking a van driver after a 14-year-old boy was hurt in a traffic accident.

The boy is receiving treatment for a cut to the head at Tameside Hospital after he was in collision with a van while crossing Hattersley Road West, Hattersley, on Monday.

Police say they have yet to speak with the van driver, who stopped at the scene and left the boy with his parents.

A police spokesman said: "The driver ... gave them his name and an address in Hyde which may be false.

"The boy is currently detained at Tameside Hospital for treatement and observation for the injury which is not believed to be life threatening."
