This one is to the memory of our dads

TWO women who lost their fathers to heart disease last year have organised a charity night in their memory.

Helen Maxted and Jackie Hurley became friends after meeting in the pub and discovering they had both lost dads Bill and Anthony to the killer illness.

Now, on the first anniversary of their death, the women have set up a fund raising night of music and entertainment to raise cash for the British Heart Foundation.

The special event will be held at Bigwigs, Corporation Road, Audenshaw, with a DJ, an Elvis impersonator and magicians Scott Burns and Dan Faulkner.

Raffle prizes will also be up for grabs including a football signed by Manchester United, free meal tickets and vouchers donated by Esporta gym, Marks and Spencers and many more.

Helen, 21, of Weston Drive, Denton, said: "We have become close through losing our dads and we always wanted to do something in memory of them. We thought it would be a good idea to get everyone together and they were so well-known that we've already sold quite a lot of the tickets."

Jackie, 25, of Haughton Green, added: "My dad was only 51 when he died and he wasn't unhealthy. That just proves it can happen to anyone. That's why we want to try to do something to help."
