DETECTIVES are hunting a rapist who posed as a taxi driver before subjecting his victim to a two-hour ordeal in a pub car park.

The 23-year-old woman was walking along Queen's Road in Ashton at 7pm when she got into a dark-coloured car believing it to be a taxi.

She was driven to the Junction Inn, Mossley Road, Ashton, where she was attacked before being dumped nearby.

Detective Inspector Tony Alogba, of Ashton CID, said: "The woman has been left extremely traumatised by the incident and we are determined to catch her attacker.

"We are appealing to anyone who saw her from when she was picked up at 7pm until she was set free at 9pm to come forward.

"We want to reassure women in the area that this was an isolated incident, but are warning people not to get into cars unless they are sure of the driver's identity."

The rapist is white, in his 30s, of heavy build, with a light-coloured skinhead haircut. He was wearing a light-coloured chequered long-sleeved shirt, and a beige baseball cap.

Anyone with information about the incident, which occurred on 10 December, is asked to contact Stalybridge CID on 0161 856 9540.
