Home of memories driven away

THIEVES drove away with a couple's £15,000 motor home.

Lynda and Roy Ollerenshaw went to work as usual on Tuesday, 9 March, leaving their Autohome's Landliner parked outside their home. But when they returned to the house, on Corporation Street, Denton, they found thieves had stolen the motor home and its contents, including several boxes of priceless family photographs.

Lynda said the theft was a double blow because, due to work being done on the house, the couple had around £3,000 worth of household goods stored in the back of the van.

"There were the contents of my Welsh dresser and all the kitchen cupboards, numerous boxes of general clutter and even two carpets," she said. "For me it couldn't have come at a worse time, but for whoever took it, it couldn't have been a better one."

Lynda has resigned herself to the fact that she will never see a lot of her things again. But the couple are devastated that photographs and videos of their children growing up can never be replaced.

"I had a video of my son being the king in 'Joseph' - he's 21 now, but he was only about eight or nine then," she said. "There was also the design for the cake I'm making for my daughter's wedding. I am gutted. There's no price you can put on the children's stuff and it's those things you can't really replace."

Lynda and Roy are now appealing for information about the personal items which they believe may have been dumped somewhere.

"They can sell the rest of the stuff on, but these things will be of no interest to them and will probably get dumped," she added. "If anyone lives somewhere where they have had a lot of these archive-type boxes dumped, could they please get in touch."

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 872 5050.
