Care makes it vital unit should stay

LITTLE Dylan Mistry suffers with a rare skin condition that means his parents cannot even hold him without putting a pillow between them both.

The two-week-old youngster has subcutaneous fat necroscis, a condition which causes the hardening of any fat. Symptoms include redness and nodules on the skin.

It is hoped it will cure itself naturally but as it is so severe doctors think it could take anything up to six months before Dylan can go home.

Dad Pramesh of Kings Bridge Avenue, Dukinfield, said: "It's like a straitjacket. It's so infected and so painful that his breathing is shallow.

"We can't pick him up on his own, it's too painful for him, so we have to have him on a pillow.

"The staff have been brilliant, it's 24-hour-care, any indication that there's something wrong they inform us."

Although he developed full term and was eight days late, Dylan was born by emergency Caesarean following complications.

Mum Varsha, a medical secretary at Christie's, says the consequences would be unthinkable if the hospital lost its maternity unit and are backing our campaign.

"With an emergency Caesarean you feel every bump when you travel.

"We make two trips a day to spend time with him and if we had to travel further we would find it very difficult."

   Dear Pramesh and Varsha

We are dellighted to see our little darling Dylan in his parents arms, for the first time. We had been waiting patiently to see him and hold him but circumstances have not permitted us. We understand how frustrating it must be for you both to not to be able to hold him close to you and play with him and so we all wish and pray to god that soon he will come home so we can all be together and share the joy of new arrival in the family. You all have always been in our thoughts and are still thinking of you.

We are finding it hard to believe that this is happening but hope that it is for a short time and for better. Your mama and mami will visit you soon and love you all.

Lots of love to Dylan and best wishes to you both.
