Ex-Corrie star lines up to back campaign

STAR of the stage and ex-Corrie hunk Scott Wright thinks it would be mad to close the unit where he was born.
Best known for his two-year role as Sam Kingston in Coronation Street, he won the title of 'Rear of the year' in 2002 and his next project will be with a West End production of hit musical Chicago.
But the first people to see that prize-winning bottom were nurses at Tameside Hospital in 1975.
Now based in Glossop, he is proud to have been born in the Ashton hospital. "It seems complete madness to shut the unit," he said. "Ashton and Tameside are such big areas it seems crazy when there's all those people needing its services.
"A lot of people round here don't have a massive amount of money and it would be difficult for them to get over to other hospitals."
