Hundreds of thousands in shake-up survey

NEARLY 242,000 people across Greater Manchester responded to the maternity review.
A decision was expected in September but had to be delayed because of the huge public response.
This is the third attempt to change children's services, with previous attempts failing during the consultation stage in 2000 and 1998.
Senior doctors say the reforms are urgently needed and will save the lives of 30 babies every year by providing better specialist care.
But there are concerns women from some parts of the region will have to travel up to 50 minutes to their nearest unit.
