Shrinking family shed four stone

THIS week marks the end of the Advertiser's Fight the Flab campaign - and our family have lost a combined weight of four stone and 9lbs between them!

Mum Sandra, 45, said: "This is better than we have ever done before, and we are still going to try to lose our target of seven stone between us."
Adrian, 21, has lost one stone 11lbs and now weighs 19 stone 3lbs; mum Sandra has lost one stone 2lbs and now weighs 15 stone 12lbs; dad Ian has lost one stone 3lbs and now weighs 16 stone 7lbs; and youngest son Ben, 11, has lost 7lbs and now weighs 10 stone 7lbs.
Sandra, of Furness Avenue, Ashton, said: "Adrian has gone down four trouser sizes to a 44 inch waist and I am down to a size 24 - something I can't remember being before."
She said the most difficult part was getting started at the exercise classes.
"I was really nervous, but once we got there it was easy because everyone was really supportive and it was a chance to talk over your experiences with some new friends," Sandra said.
Ian, 48, added: "Being at the swimming baths by 9am on a Sunday morning is now a regular part of our family routine."
But Sandra admitted the hunger pangs are still there and had to stop herself from buying a deep fat fryer as a treat for the end of the campaign.
"I managed to stop myself from buying it. I realise fried food is no good for you, so we will be trying to stick to the fresh vegetables and lean meats from now on," she said.
"We are going to try to sustain our new lifestyle by keeping exercise in our daily routine and by sticking to the fresh foods. When we go out now we don't rush for the chips, we go for light bites instead!"
