Cowboy yobs put horses in danger

A MUM fears yobs could permanently injure her young horse because they keep trying to ride it.
Sarah Carr says youths keep breaking into stables off Printworks Road, Stalybridge where she keeps her one-year-old colt Domino.
They have been using string and rope as a makeshift bridle, which could injure the young horse's mouth and riding such a young horse risks permanent damage.
"It damages the spine so that he can never be ridden because the legs aren't fully formed yet," said Sue, 32.
"They've been getting bits of rope and putting it through his mouth. He had big cuts round his mouth and he was gouged round his nose."
Domino and Sarah's other horse, 16-year-old Sam, also suffered further trauma when a blazing car was crashed into their field at the weekend.
She said: "Fire is absolutely horrific to horses. It can affect them for the rest of their lives. Luckily Domino wasn't on his own, but there are a lot of skid marks across the field, so I don't know where they were."
She said daughter Lauren, nine, who is "very much into horses" was very distressed at what could have happened.
Sarah, of Grove Road, Stalybridge is temporarily stabling the horses elsewhere in Stalybridge while she mends the fencing.
"I just want these youngsters to know the dangers of getting on horses they don't know. They are putting themselves and the horses in danger," she said.

It sickens me to read reports like this, and makes me glad I no longer live in the area.
