Volunteers offer helping hand

24/ 7/2002

VOLUNTEERS at Tameside's Victim Support continue to console friends and relatives of the many murder victims.

For many the grieving process only began at the Shipman Inquiry verdicts and for some of those affected by the former GP's crimes, it will be a long time before they can come to terms with what has happened.

Helen Ogborn, TVS district manager, urged anyone needing a listening ear to contact their office in Chester Square, Ashton.

"Sometimes talking to somebody you don't know is easier than talking to family and friends because they don't like to see your pain," said Helen.

"We're able to listen and people don't have to worry about the effect it will have on us."

To discuss your concerns contact TVS on 0161 339 1190 from Monday to Friday between 9am-5pm.
