THE opening fixtures in this year’s Peak Sports Derbyshire and Cheshire Cricket League got under way on some bowler-friendly pitches as most teams struggled with the damp conditions.

In division one, Dinting beat Birch Vale by 36 runs as John Coleman’s 5-38 saw the latter all out for 66 after Dinting had been skittled for 102.

There was a tie as Old Glossop ended on 168-6 in reply to New Mills’ 168 all out in which Matt Woodcock ended with 6-51.

Tintwistle were victorious by 25 runs against Newton, making 142-6 before Matthew Robinson’s 6-20 saw Newton all out for 117.

Division two saw Broadbottom victorious by three wickets against Mottram after restricting their visitors to 139-9.

Hadfield saw off Buxworth by 119 runs, dismissing them for 120 after compiling 239-6, Charlesworth defeated Buxton by 10 runs after bowling them out for 102, while Chapel were dismissed for 62 in reply to Hollingworth’s 117 all out.

In division three, Chapel went down by eight wickets as their paltry 38 was comfortably overhauled by Romiley.

Dinting were victorious, beating Birch Vale by 26 runs after dismissing them for 126 having earlier made 145 all out.

Old Glossop were all out for 94 chasing New Mills’ 133 all out, while Tintwistle surpassed Newton’s 164 all out to win by seven wickets.

As for division four, Hadfield were all out for 48 chasing Buxworth’s 89 all out, Hollingworth lost by eight wickets at Hazel Grove where they were dismissed for 110, while Mottram were one-wicket winners against Broadbottom after limiting their visitors to 110-8.
