THE recent spell of good weather has seen the wickets firm up in the Peak Sports Derbyshire and Cheshire Cricket League and become more batsmen-friendly.
In division one, Old Glossop finished on 217-9 chasing Compstall’s 225-7 as Jamie Cannon scored 67 and Martin McGrail 31. Rob Adderley had earlier taken 3-51 for Old Glossop.
John Coleman returned figures of 7-29 as Dinting dismissed visiting Dove Holes for 143 before reaching their target with eight wickets in hand, Jim Brotherton hitting 59 not out and Matt Blood making 50.
Tintwistle were victorious by eight wickets at New Mills where the hosts ended on 120-8, Tintwistle’s Matthew Robinson taking 3-33 before compiling an unbeaten 54 in their reply.
Romiley batted first at Newton and made 216 all out before Alex Barber’s 5-36 saw Newton all out for 156.
Buxton claimed their first win of the division two season as they made 173-6 against a Broadbottom side who were all out for 100.
Lee Bradley made 71 as Chapel reached 212-7 against Charlesworth before Neil Pheasey took 4-20 as Charlesworth were dismissed for 122 in reply.
Hadfield were nine-wicket winners against High Lane as they skittled their visitors for 89 before Carlo Cook (59 not out) and Rick Ball (33 not out) took them across the finishing line.
Mottram were beaten by three wickets in their game with Buxworth after they were all out for 157, while Hollingworth made 191-6 at Woodley where the hosts ended their reply on 153-9.
Division three saw Dinting reach 224-6 at Dove Holes where the home side made 207-9 in reply, while Adam Critchlow’s unbeaten 100 guided Chapel to 179-9 chasing Hayfield’s 246 all out.
Old Glossop fell four runs short against Compstall as they were 207 all out chasing 211-7, while Newton lost by seven wickets at Romiley where they were dismissed for 161.
Elsewhere, Tintwistle went down by five wickets against New Mills having been all out for 60.
As for division four, Broadbottom were 94 all out in reply to Buxton’s 241 all out, Mottram won by seven wickets having skittled Buxworth for 134, while Hollingworth were all out for 146 after Woodley had made 153-9.
