MICKLEHURST are only nine points off the top of the Drakes Huddersfield League Premier Division despite seeing their run of five consecutive wins come to an end.

The Castle Lane side were beaten by Delph on Sunday in a match reduced to 25 overs per side after heavy rain.

Batting first, Micklehurst mustered a below-par score of 130-7 despite good knocks from Rashid (47) and Lonergan (34). Bilal Khiljee (26) and Kyle Hogg (24) turned the game in Delph’s favour before Graham Simpson’s unbeaten 38 sealed Delph’s victory in the final over on 134-4.

Saturday had seen Micklehurst complete a quickfire double over Shepley having beaten them five days earlier. Lonergan (84) and Anchor (44) took them to 257-5 before Ryan McGrath (6-23) and Melbourne Austin (2-13) saw Shepley all out for 41 in reply.
