THE weather was the main winner last weekend in the Ashton and Oldham Cricket Alliance with only one of Saturday’s league games finishing.
That came at Europa Exiles where the visitors AJK batted first and reached 185-4, Nazir making an excellent undefeated 107.
The home side’s reply saw them all out for 54, Arif taking 5-22 and Thanvir 3-19 to give AJK a maximum six points and move them into second place in the table.
However, Star Eleven clinched the league title as the two points they gained from an abandoned match at Newtonhurst put them seven points clear with only one game remaining.
Sunday saw an excellent win for Foresters against Friends as they batted first and made 178-8, Bailey top-scoring with 78.
Friends struggled against Foresters’ excellent bowling as Bailey took 4-5 to see them all out for 53 and give Foresters the maximum six points.
