ROMILEY’S victory against Dinting saw them take top spot in divison one of the Peak Sports Derbyshire and Cheshire Cricket League as both Compstall and Hayfield fell foul of the weather.

Russell Holt’s undefeated 102 helped Romiley to 229-6, Danny Brightmore taking 5-57 for Dinting who were all out for 105.

Rick Harris hit 83 in Tintwistle’s 224-6 at Dove Holes where the hosts finished on 195-6.

Newton compiled 260-6 against Hazel Grove, who replied with 118-2, while Old Glossop were five-wicket winners against Birch Vale as Lenny Allsopp (4-24) and Matt Woodcock (3-34) dismissed Vale for 145.

In division two, Hadfield bowled out Charlesworth for 88 to win by two wickets, Mike Hockey taking 4-8 for Hadfield who saw Rick Ball strike an undefeated 44 in reply.

Mottram were dismissed for 136 chasing Hollingworth’s 184-8, Ian Morris ending with figures of 4-45 and Dave Morris 3-48 during the Mottram innings.

Chapel won by three wickets at Woodley where the hosts were all out for 107, Lee Bradley (6-30) and Neil Pheasey (4-17) sharing the wickets before Bradley’s 41 saw Chapel home.

Buxworth bowled Whaley Bridge out for 148 before sealing a three-wicket win, Dave Inglefield making 51 having earlier seen John Theyer and Mark Furness take 5-29 and 4-60 respectively.

Rain halted play with High Lane on 81-3 chasing Broadbottom’s 133 all out.

Division three brought a seven-wicket loss for Old Glossop at Birch Vale where they were 105 all out.

Chapel were skittled for 33 in reply to Newton’s 180 all out, but rain halted play in the other games featuring local sides.

Dinting had made 202-3 at Romiley, the hosts 91-2 at the close, while Tintwistle had reduced Dove Holes to 65-7 having been all out for 116.

Broadbottom won their division four match against High Lane by nine wickets after dismissing their visitors for 94.

Charlesworth were 127 all out chasing Hadfield’s 199-8, Mottram were all out for 81 in reply to Hollingworth’s 115 all out, while Whaley Bridge won by five wickets against Buxworth, who had been 146 all out.
